Data from Manpower shows 80% of UK businesses are struggling to recruit skilled people, which is the highest it has been since 2006. Skills shortages have been exacerbated by the pandemic and the supply chain and logistics sector has been amongst the most significantly impacted.

Against this backdrop, we’ve experienced growth and ongoing investment in digital transformation, which has also impacted the skills landscape. All of these factors mean it has never been more important to retain great talent and it’s something we are committed to at ASCG.

Technologically-savvy talent in all areas of the business continues to be in demand as the sector looks to fill roles at a time when digitalisation and automation are vital to optimising supply chains.

Being proactive about employer brand

Companies are investing in their employer brand but may are still falling short of really standing out in the sector and when competing for talent with other industries.
Over the last 12 months we have built a network of 40 Wellbeing Ambassadors across our UK business to support colleagues in the workplace.

We are leading the way in our sector when it comes to kindness as a fundamental part of leadership and creating a truly Great Place to Work.

We have invested over 1,500 hours in training for our leadership team around resilience, wellbeing and inclusivity and our wellbeing agenda is sponsored at the highest level of our business to ensure that we remain laser focused on creating a kind culture based on strong values.

We have recently broadened our talent strategy and currently have more than 80 apprentices across the group.

Using technology to gain insights

Having real time information on engagement is key to ensuring our people strategy is effective. We are investing in pulse surveys, targeting specific demographics to ensure that we can respond to any issues and demonstrate that we act on the needs of our colleagues.

It is only by taking this people-centred approach that we can meet our commercial objectives and ambitions as a business. We are always looking for excellent people who fit our culture and challenge the way we operate. Check out our careers page to get in touch about your next role.
