Kathryn Lewis, operations director at Bradford-based Advanced Supply Chain has been awarded ‘Leader of the Year’ at a prestigious national awards ceremony which honours women who are encouraging women into the transport sector.
Widely esteemed within the transport and logistics industry, The FTA Everywoman Awards brings together women at the top of their game to raise awareness of the varied and rewarding careers the industry offers.
Having entered the industry as a returns supervisor for Littlewoods in 1995, Kathryn climbed quickly to become operations director at Advanced Supply Chain, a global logistics company that counts some of the UK’s biggest brands as its clients.
Selected by a judging panel of industry leaders, the top award, ‘Leader of the Year’, was announced at a prestigious ceremony held at the London Hilton on 26th May 2016.
Finalists were judged on their role within business and active contribution to the strategic direction of the business alongside how effectively they lead by example to challenge the gender imbalance in the industry.
Kathryn said of the award: “I am truly honoured to be awarded leader of the year. I’m humbled by the recognition I have received, but have also been inspired to continue to lead in the industry, and ensure that diversity continues to take a hold.
“I hope this can inspire other females to see beyond the misconception of the sector and embrace what I’ve found to be a rewarding career in transport and logistics.”
Maxine Benson MBE, co-founder of everywoman, comments, “The transport and logistics industry offers an incredible range of opportunities for women with the determination, enthusiasm and passion to succeed. The women celebrated today come from a variety of backgrounds and highlight what makes the industry so great – they are breaking barriers, changing perceptions, and are role models for others, both those already forging a career in the industry and those who have never even considered it. We are proud to be able to celebrate their achievements and are confident their success will inspire women of all ages, experience and skill-levels to bring their talent to the industry.”
