ASC Director shortlisted for FTA Everywoman Award

Bradford-based Advanced Supply Chain’s operations director has been named as a finalist in the prestigious 2016 FTA Everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards.

Kathryn Lewis is one of the three finalists in the Leader of the Year category at the awards, after being nominated by colleagues at the global supply chain provider.

Now in its ninth year, the awards ceremony aims to demonstrate the breadth of career opportunities offered by the industry, particularly for women. The Leader of the Year category will be judged by a panel of top industry professionals who will be looking for a woman who is operating in a senior role and actively contributing to the strategic direction of the business whilst leading by example to challenge the gender imbalance in the industry.

Kathryn joined Advanced Supply Chain in 2012, and has since been involved in some of its most successful and innovative big brand accounts.

Those shortlisted for the award demonstrate how women can embrace a career in transport and logistics and showcase the possibilities in the industry, from engineers to warehousing managers and HGV drivers, whether they are rising stars at the beginning of an exciting career journey or in senior roles sharing their success stories created over several years.

Mike Danby, CEO at Advanced Supply Chain said: “We are incredibly proud of Kathryn’s achievement – not only in being shortlisted for this award, but for encouraging women into the industry.

“Female leaders are key to any business and it’s great to have a representative from Advanced Supply Chain championing the presence and importance of women in transport and logistics.”

Maxine Benson MBE, co-founder of everywoman, comments, “Today’s announcement comes as the transport industry seeks to enhance its image as one that offers exciting opportunities to all women, from young women entering the workforce to those returning after a career break.

“This year’s finalists are the role models who demonstrate the industry is open to all backgrounds and skill-sets and that it welcomes talented and ambitious women. We know these finalists will inspire others to follow in their footsteps.”

With the UK’s transport and logistics industry expected to receive double its current investment over the next decade*, everywoman, the FTA and the Awards partners hope to raise the visibility of women excelling in this field, encouraging more females into this exciting sector.

The winners will be unveiled at a ceremony attended by over 300 industry leaders on 26 May 2016 at the London Hilton on Park Lane. To book your place or a table, please contact Seema Bennett, Event Sales Manager on 0207 981 2574 or email
